The RV "Toad"

A "toad" is a second vehicle that is towed behind a motorhome. This provides a convenient runabout vehicle for shopping or sightseeing, while leaving the motorhome set up at the RV park.

Towing 4 Down (Flat Towing)

This term refers to the method of towing a vehicle with all four wheels on the ground, as opposed to using a tow dolly or trailer. Some cars can be towed in this manner with no modifications, while others may require specialized equipment.

The Tow Dolly

A tow dolly is a two-wheeled trailer that supports the front driving wheels of the toad, while the rear wheels roll along on the ground.

Towing a Trailer

The alternative to towing 4 down, or using a tow dolly, is to use a separate trailer to carry the toad completely off the road.
