RV Exterior Care

The exterior finish of your RV is continually being assaulted by sun, rain, insects, and road debris. Oxidation is a natural process that attacks your finish, leaving behind a dull-looking, chalky surface. This chalking is actually the paint or gelcoat layer degrading over time due to UV exposure and environmental elements.

Washing & Waxing

Always wash the exterior with specially formulated automotive or RV wash products. Household soaps and harsh detergents can strip protective waxes and harm gelcoat or aluminum finishes due to their high alkalinity or acidity. Apply a quality wax periodically, or use a wash-and-wax combination product during routine cleaning to maintain a protective barrier.

Protecting Against Gravel & Debris

A solid set of heavy-duty mud flaps on your tow vehicle or motorhome eliminates much of the damage caused by road grit kicked up by tires. A bumper-mounted brush-style splash guard is also very effective when combined with mud flaps.

If you regularly travel on gravel or unpaved roads, consider installing rubberized stone guard material or diamond plate along the lower front wall of your trailer. It only takes a few miles of loose gravel to dent aluminum panels or chip gelcoat finishes.
