Your poll choices don't make any sense to me.

I think there's room for all kinds of different parks. I don't really like the ones that have trashy-looking folks living there full time, but hey - I don't have to stay there if I don't want to. It's all up to me.

To me, rules against tarps, rules against this and that and the other thing, are a big turn-off.

If you don't like tarps, find another place to park your rig - or look the other way. Just my opinion.

No offense meant - but you asked.

If your question is mainly about campground ratings, then I think for one thing, it's easier for a rated RV park to go downhill fast and not have its rating checked or updated, than for a hotel or resort to do the same.

I'm not offended at all. I understand what you are saying. I don't want to offend anyone either. People have a right to do whatever they want and I'm not saying they shouldn't. I would go to another RV resort, if I could find one. But what I AM saying is...there doesn't seem to be one, unless you go to the states or out west.

So...personally, I think there's a need for it here in Ontario and the Eastern provinces... because there doesn't seem to be a RV resort as such...unless somebody can inform me differently. Thanks for responding.

I live out west In B.C.and I looked high and low to find a RV Campground that features a Hair Salon and (I can't believe) a Nail salon. For what it is worth I and I include most of the folks that read this forum don't need a nail salon while camping. We enjoy a camp fire a walk in the woods throw a fishing line in a lake and lay in the dirt and have a good time. If the nails get to long we use a clipper and cut them off. We usually have a hair cut if we have any left to cut before we leave and if we forget nobody will slight us for this. We are camping, not so long ago it meant a tent and a foam cooler now some of us can afford a motor home with all the conveniences from home but not a hair salon and and a nail salon. We enjoy the beauty of nature and the wild life we find , we listen to the sound of a loon and the howl of a wolf and the wail of a coyote.Neither of these needs a Hair Salon or a Nail Salon to enjoy.
If you really need these things as part of a camping trip then maybe you should over night at a parking lot in Toronto or a Walmart parking lot .or where ever as long as you can find a Nail salon near by.
I really do not won't to rattle your chain, but if you need these services I can guaranty you you won't find them out west , at least not in British Columbia.
You are probably a very nice person and I do not want to insult you, But looking for a hair salon and a nail salon in a camp ground??? Give me a break.

F.Y. I. Fairmont Hot Springs Resort & Spa, Eagle Nook Wilderness Resort & Spa, and Spirit Ridge Resort & Spa all have RV parks and are all in BC....to name a few. There are several more.
A lot of RVers, are not "campers". Thats why they travel by RV instead of tents, but they don't like flying and they want to see the sights.

I did buy a condo...on wheels.

Honestly, I really don't want to offend or judge anybody and I personally don't like to use the term. By the same token, I don't want to be judged or "LOL" at either!!!! It works both ways. I'm not a camper... like wildlife from afar and enjoy a few luxuries in a resort like setting. (I don't expect it in a campground). That doesn't mean I don't have the right to travel by RV.

I'm simply asking if anyone else feels the same.

If your home is on wheels and you park that home in a campground that doesn't feature the exotic extras you crave, then just treat your home like a brick & mortar home, and drive from home to a hair salon or nail salon whenever you feel the need to primp.

Just a suggestion, makes sense to me. Many of the businesses I support are not near my home, so I have to go to them to get the goods & services I want and need.

I guess you could comp-are the question to your own neighbourhood.....Since I dont know yours I will tel you about mine.....My neighbour across the road has a beautiful house, lot and property they keep it "perfect" as that is the way they live....my other neighbour keeps his clean and neat,, he has weeds and a junky old barn/shed that is an eyesore..he is happy and has no intention of making his perfect...we have a neighbour down the road whose property is a shambles.. his choice..I keep my property neat and tidy and enjoy it but have no intention of being perfect....... when all are separated by distance it is of no real consequence and is easily overlooked....If we were all in a CG or Resort it would make a huge difference..It likely would lead to discourse amongst the residents as the perfect would be displeased with the less perfect and the easy living would be upset that others want them to be neat and tidy...I dont think I would want to stay too far off my personal parameters of neat and tidy.. but I also would not want to be in a "perfect" setting..........and a little story...Our $100,000 investment ( in 2004) was looked down upon in a "resort" in AZ...we made the mistake of booking for a week......after 3 days of being ignored and looked down upon as "travellers...campers and vacationers using "our" facilites " I finally clewed in...we werent good enough to stay there,, and the judgement was made solely on the fact that our equipment was valued substantially less than what was already in the park..so, you can join whatever group you wish.. no matter where yoy go, somone will think that you arent good enough to be there.

Thanks for your input. Sorry about your bad experience. It definitely shouldn't have happened.

This was our experience:

We were at a 5 star resort paying fees that dictate that. We had a lovely site and nice quiet neighbours who had a plain but immaculate RV and site. (Ours is not the best and the biggest either, but it's clean and so is our site). Not far from us, was a filthy old beat up camper, with tarp all around it. When we got a glimpse inside, it was sooooo lit up. It looked like and smelled like a grow house... it was actually scarey. I think this is very different.

This is part of the reason I am seeking the upscale amenities. I don't necessarily need to use them. Just need to know that I'm going to a place with high security and rules and regulations to avoid this. I KNOW I won't find this in a campground. I don't expect to.

I have to tell you, the first time I was amazed.......
( Just keep in mind, that of course, this campground I am talking about is in Palm Springs, California)


We belong to a " membership campground" system, the ONLY reason for it, is that the resorts "She who must be obeyed" likes to stay in would normally cost me, $40 per night, now $8.00 PN. We still go to State parks, County parks, and dry camping. When she feels like being in a 5 star hotel, is when we check into the resort type.

NOT for the accoutremonts, but for the cleanliness, landscaping and things like that. They also have " single wides and double wides park models, that if you wanted to leave your rig at home, you can rent one of theirs, bring your own sheets and pillows, everything else provided for $50 P/N, ( compare that to $ 200 PN a hotel in Palm Springs)

Oh yes, the HAVE a hair salon AND and ART GALLERY.

We HAVE NEVER partaken in either!
