update on furnace

Postby jaaybird » Sun Mar 04, 2012 10:17 pm

Well, finally took the coach in
Thanks to Les,Haffie and Gary!

The thought is as follows ( and something I forgot to tell you guys) My fault

For the past year, the heater motor has been squeeling at startup, but after bearings (?) warm up would run just fine.
Then it just died a few weeks ago.

Took to RV techs, and they said either:
The motor finally died in the furnace and needs to be replaced
or the fuse has burned out.

When I get a definitative answer will let you guys know

Heya jb,

I'd assume it's a combination of both. The bearings in the motor seized up and that caused the fuse to blow from the current draw.

If it were mine, I'd take the motor apart and replace the bearings, but then again, I do have a source for commercial and industrial bearings in all configurations. I also have the tools to pull and replace bearings, since I did a lot of them before retiring.

Hope it works out for you jb.

Have a good one,

Haffie
