Tire pressure

Postby raf24 » Sun Mar 27, 2011 10:49 pm

Just installed two new 225/75/16 tires on my class c motorhome. What is a good air pressure to run without weighing the motorhome? The max pressure is 80#,I was thinking of running 60# front,70# rear, does this sound reasonable?

I have been running a tire on my 3/4 ton work van with a load in the thing, that calls for up to 80lbs, but have found them wearing in the center when at 80 lbs, also road kinda ruff, so I backed them down to 60lbs, so it kinda depends on how much weight ya have on it?

raf 24 Without weighing the rv I would use the label inside showing the weights.
Then go to the tire mfg site and they will have a chart showing what pressure for what weight.

I have a 31' Class C and I run 70 in front and 75 in rear. Tires are Michelin XPS rib and these pressures are whats recommended by their web=site.

I'd second that. You really need to have a good idea of what weight the tires are carrying and you've not said what load range tires you have.

On my Mini Wini the door tag includes recommended pressure for each axle. The recommendation is very close to that needed when weighing the rig and going by the inflation chart. My ties are LR D and they can carry the max rated load for the rig at less than full rated pressure. Also from al the charts I've looked at all LR have the same carrying capacity at same pressure, just the higher LR permits you to inflate to higher pressure for higher loads.
