Satellite TV in Mexico

Postby Hillcountryrambler » Wed Oct 07, 2009 3:19 pm

Traveling to west Coast of Mexico (100 miles south of Mazatlan) to spend the winter.

Want to buy satellite service in the U.S. that I will be able to use in the U.S. --will I be able to receive a signal in Mexico?

Which U.s. company do you think is best provider?

Nobody has offered with an on-point answer so I'll throw in a recommendation for Direct TV over Dish Network simply because the satellite is much easier to find when pointing your dish. A compass and a $30 satellite finder will save a lot of time, shouting, frustration and grief.

No experience with reception in Mexico. I know that the satellite television providers use spot beam transmitters for the local channels so you can't get them if you get too far from home. The other channels, though, should be available anywhere and when you first sign up you can get network feeds for east coast or west coast instead of local channels. You have to tell them it's for an RV and you have to sign some kind of waiver.

I'll tell you that east coast west coast Direct TV link is wonderful. If you miss a show you can see it later. Or this weeks Cowboys game isn't being broadcast on east coast feed but it is on west coast. Now whats that got to do wit Mexico? Sorry I got carried away.
