99 Dutchmen tent trailer roof rotten!!!

Postby jaystersj » Thu Nov 20, 2008 1:39 am

Hey everyone. I'm back, this time I have a newer trailer.story goes like this.. In May i purchased a used 99 Dutchmen 747 Classic at one of the big RV stores in the area... First off , I nog, a great price for it.. Everything seemed fine and dandy... but after my first use in the spring, I noticed that the one side of the pop up roof was rotten, too the point it was like a sponge. I went back to the dealer and they offered to replace the one side... ok, thats cool.. But now after one season the other side is rotten too... one of the hold downs just ripped right out. On the inside behind the panel it was like brown mud... They said they will fix it this winter because there too busy. Does anyone have any knowledge on these roof( material used,,,etc) I need this fixed.... Oh yeah.. they also charged $200 to PDI, my pick up was for 10am, 3 weeks after I paid cash for it.. On that day,, nothing was done... things that were suppose to work, didn't..... So heres a little WARNING for you.... DONT BUY FROM THE RV Warehouse inc
, in Cookstown Ontario... their service is a disaster area.. The service manager knows nothing.....I'm going to let them fix the one side , then I will see them in court for the rest, !!!!

First off , I nog, a great price for it.. Somehow I don't think so, Sorry.
$200 extra for a PDI? Never heard of that.
If you are going to court try to get all your money back. No telling how much rot you bought. Try to prove that the rot was preexisting the sale .
Good luck

well I,m in the same crap with a new one, and have discovered that in my fine print their is this little clause that says (sold as is) even tho their is factory warr on it, does not mean they have to fix anything in a decent way? I have spent some time and did get legal advice and ended up at the moment with 2 options, go for my money back which can and will take time and a lil money, or take what ya got and walk on with it.
3rd option i,m kicking around lil bit is go public and try changing Tn law while i,m at it  but their again it takes time and money.
good luck and hope ya get it all worked out

Well today was the deadline for them. I'm going to let them fix the one side and I've contacted the RVDA which they are part of.. Explaining there poor customer service and total disrespect for the costumers... I also told them i will purse legel action against them.. The rot is not only a problem , but the mold that may grow inside is a health hazard to myself and my neice and nefew... I will fix the other side myself and take them to court for what time and money i will put into this.. Everything i have done has been documented and submitted to my Lawyer..... SO buyer beware ..... stay away from THE RV Warehouse inc. in Cooktown...!!! Ontario
