Kids bought a 2008 Jayco TT

Postby jaaybird » Sun Aug 10, 2008 4:48 am

My kids "decided to buy a brand new 2008" TT,

They went to Dan Gamel, who is going out of business, got a good deal, but, are not getting any luck to get the " due bill" work done, nor warrenty repairs. I diceded to help. Had him call Jayco direct, tell them everything that is wrong on a 2008 TT, and "Jayco stood behind it", told him to take it to ANY dealer he wanted, and tell them to send the man at Jayco the bill.

We have it now at Paul Everts, they have confirmed with Jayco a P.O. and it is being worked on.

I called the service director at Paul Evert's told him the story, he called Jaco and confirmed, and I took it there yesterday.

1) Bath tub NOT supported, will have it take it out and put more supports under it.

2) Radio, ( in coach) " shorted out" due to water.

3) ALL water lines installed wrong, i.e. where hot lines are should be cold line, ect.

3a) The P trap has fallen off.

4) nails sticking out of linoleum, will wear out in time, have to lift all linol, and redo

5) Refer door FELL off on last weekend trip, will have to replace reefer.

6) Moulding on coach entry door installed wrong, will have to replace and install right

7) toilet lines are leaking and installed backwards need to replace.

8 ) wall paper in bathroom, wet and shrunk from water damage remove and replace

9) control monitor does not light, remove and rewire

10)vapor barrier leak, will have to remove all lilo to sub floor to check for water damage

11) Vinyl moulding on door was not installed corectly, cut too short, will remove replace, and then will adhesive ,screw down as to not
come apart

12) water heater installed backswards also

With this kind of factory work, no wonder Dan Gamel is going out of business. :( Be no profit in having to make this kind of warranty repairs on a new unit. :( Am also wondering to what kind of a PDI was made? :?:

PDI was made the day they left for Oregon and Washington on a vacation from California, it was raining the day of the PDI, they thought everything was all right, until they got on the road to drier climate

If I owned the factory, I would want that rig back to use as a sample of How not to do. I would just offer them a new rig. Carl

Hmmm, Hoffie posted:

b]"Hmmmm.. With any kind of luck, they should have it back by next summer. " [/b]

What was that little clip that use to be used on Hee-Haw? "If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all?"

I shouldn't make fun of the "kids" problem but that came to mind when I read Hoffie's post. To coin an old Southern phrase: "Bless Their Hearts" meaning, I ment no harm.

Hee Haw? Damn, now you're really dating yourself! :P I think I have one of those CDs on the shelf, some where between "Rocky Jones - Space Ranger and "Sky King"

How is this for remembering the words:
"Gloom, despair and agony on me,
Deep dark depression excessive misery.
If it weren’t for bad luck I’d have not luck at all,
Gloom, despair and agony on me."

I remember Saturday nights when I was young.

I hope all gets corrected with your RV.

I hope you have reassured them that their problems are perfectly normal in the rv world. Now that I have read what I just posted I realize there might be a problem in the rv world. Ya think?
I have read so many stories about rvs and many are the high end DPs so nobody is safe.
I always think of our friend who has a home in North Lake Tahoe and when we went to visit him.
Turns out his toilet was plumbed to the hot water but he didn't know it.
He is single so one flush wouldn't let him know.
With us visiting there were several flushes in the morning so the hot water had a chance to get to the toilet.
What a funny surprise.
Oh well, life goes on. hopefully...........

Thanks for posting that Wayne. Saved me the trouble of typing it myself. ;-)

Mom and Dad used to watch that show, so naturally my sister and I watched it, too - or nothing. We didn't have our own TVs until years later.
