What to tow ?

Postby Len » Fri Apr 21, 2006 4:32 pm

I have a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo 2wheel drive auto trans and have been told it will cost approx $1,000 to put in a trans kit. Do I have to have a stick trans in order to tow ? What is a good inexpensive tow vehicle ?

Len: There might be two solutions to your problem other then buying an other car.

Remco has what they call a Drive Shaft Coupling system and a Lube Pump system. You might give them a call at 1-877-645-7171 to see if they have something that would fit your needs.

As for towning, I've been pulling a 94 Suzuki Sidekick 4X4 for the past 10 years or more. Noted other day miliage indicator had rolled over 70K and this don't enclude towing since I have a speedometer disconnect that activates when I plug into my motor home. I would guess there's another 30K in pulling mode.

Sidekick is easy to pull, easy on fuel, can haul 4 although crowded and is outstanding in snow as I found out couple years back. Also because of weight, I don't fool with Aux-braking with it. Oh yes, roll up the back seat and I have a mini-mini pickup. Wife is going after several bags of dirt and mulch. Figure it'll handle up to 1,000 lbs just fine.

I have a 66VW that will cost you $6000, that follows my Rv like it is not there. Pay the thousand to make it adaptable. In this wonderful world we live in, there are no real Cheap ways to do what you want. Carl
